TRG supported the integration of three diverse providers of community and tertiary medicine in Tennessee, including an academic medical center, a major trauma center/county hospital, and a major regional health system. Our work resulted in the following:
- Development of a governance structure and an organizational arrangement that provides representation for the historical parties, creates an efficient mechanism for making decisions regarding rationalization of clinical and support services, optimizes third party reimbursement, and promotes the possibility of gaining additional public funding.
- Creation of a medical staff organizational structure that aligns the economic interests of the hospitals, medical groups, Faculty Practice, and community physicians to the fullest extent possible.
- Development of plans to integrate and rationalize clinical, ancillary and support services among the three hospital systems.
- Differentiation and repositioning of the new organization in the marketplace.
- Optimization of third party reimbursement and increased opportunities to garner additional public funding.
- Fully articulated alignment of the clinical, academic, and economic interests of the associated medical school and the new organization.
TRG supported the merger and integration of eight community hospitals in four boroughs of New York City. These efforts led to:
- Development of an initial strategic direction for the newly merged organization in each of the four boroughs of New York City.
- Identification of strategic priorities and programmatic initiatives to grow the System’s clinical volumes and market share.
- $85M in performance improvement opportunities through consolidation and programmatic integration.
- Delineation of the Hospitals’ strategic roles, including clinical program distribution, academic affiliations, and medical staff integration.
- Improved rationalization of capital resources within the new system.
- Alignment of organizational interests.
- Recruitment of faculty leadership and department chairs.
- Reorganization of the System’s managed care practices.
TRG supported the planning and implementation of a service development and growth plan for ESRD services throughout a Pennsylvania academic healthcare system. Our work resulted in the following:
- Development of a third party strategic relationship designed to meet the objectives of the System’s hospitals and faculty.
- Development of a third party capital relationship for the dialysis program, bringing more than $10 million of additional capital to the System.
Ongoing capital commitments from the third party partner for programmatic investment and service development.
